Bush started, and gave Miami a spark at the position they've lacked since Ronnie Brown's prime. The ten touches in under two quarters indicate featuring Bush is indeed part of the design under new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Bush looked quick and exploded through lanes, even running hard inside the tackles. We doubt he'll hold up on a heavy workload, but the team is giving him every opportunity. It's worth noting Bush was removed inside the five-yard line for Daniel Thomas. Thomas was stuffed twice before Lex Hilliard came on and executed. Bush will open the season as the Dolphins' starter, but won't get goal-line work.

This is mere confirmation after Daniel Thomas face-planted in his rookie training camp. Bush is going to start and be the primary runner in the early part of the season. We're skeptical that he'll be able to sustain health and effectiveness in that role, but with 16-20 touches weekly Bush figures to be a PPR asset.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>It's a huge total for a player that reached 20 touches just two times in the past three seasons, and not once since Week 3 in 2008. If Bush could come anywhere close to that kind of workload on a weekly basis, he would very much be a RB2 across all formats of fantasy. Of course, that would also require Bush to stay healthy, something that can't be expected for a player that's missed 16 games the past three years.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>And Chad Henne fantasy owners rejoice. As long as Bush remains the feature back, the Dolphins will lean heavily on the passing attack. As evidenced by Albert Haynesworth's one-armed tackle Monday night, Bush simply doesn't have the power to succeed between the tackles or at the goal-line. His fantasy value hinges on his work in the passing game.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Game situation will play a hand as well, but Sparano is cognizant of the injury risk if Bush sees every carry but one -- as he did against the Patriots in Week 1. Thomas (hamstring) is expected to play this week after practicing fully the past two days, but he's not going to be rushed into a major role. For fantasy purposes, Thomas is merely a "handcuff" to Bush.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>"When my number is called, I look to make the most of my opportunities, and Daniel (Thomas) was running the ball really well," Bush said after receiving just six carries to Thomas' 18. Through two games, Bush is averaging 3.3 yards on 17 carries. For now, he's still the more desirable fantasy option than Thomas, but it's clear he's not going to achieve RB2 status in his new home.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>This may explain, at least partially, why Bush played only 25 downs against Houston. "I was able to push through it, and I felt pretty good today," said Bush. The Fins' backfield is still heading toward a committee with Daniel Thomas in the lead role. Bush will be a dicey fantasy play moving forward.
